The Zuellig Group of Companies organises and incorporates Federal Insurance Company to underwrite non-life insurance business

Phoenix Assurance buys a minority stake in Federal Insurance

1986
Phoenix Assurance’s share in Federal Insurance reaches 40%

1987
The company is renamed to Federal Phoenix Assurance Co., Inc. to recognise the holdings of Phoenix

1996
Sun Alliance merges with Royal Insurance to become the Royal & Sun Alliance Group plc

2004
Federal Phoenix purchases Royal & Sun Alliance’s shares
